While the kitchen is considered the heart of the home, in this case, it was also the cherry on top of a series of previous home updates. When the homeowners purchased this home the previous owners had done the majority of the heavy lifting, updating most of the home before selling. However, they never made it to the kitchen, and it was in need of some serious love. While the original kitchen had neutral white cabinetry, the finishes and storage were lacking for this busy young family. A refresh was in order to optimize the footprint and elevate the finishes to match the current owner's lifestyle.
"This young family had purchased an already updated home but the kitchen hadn't been touched in years. After living here for a few years they really got to know the pain points of the space. Inaccessible cabinetry, poor sink placement, and lack of functional storage was the main motivator for the renovation. The end result was a highly efficient and beautiful kitchen for this active household."
- Chloe, Hardisty Homes
Keeping the style roots of the rest of the home in mind, designer Chloe Hardisty, of Hardisty Homes, revived the space while keeping it classic and paired Heritage Shaker in Pleasant White with striking matte black hardware and fixtures. The clean and tight colour palette gets a stroke of warmth with strategic additions of Coastal Lodge sprinkled throughout. The new stand-alone pantry answers the family's storage needs and allows for balance with open shelving for daily-use items to stay on display.
After Hardisty Homes' careful planning, this busy family has the kitchen they dreamed of to be the backdrop for their young children's memories of home.
